Once you are married you practically tend to spend almost all of your available free time in the company of each other. You tend to understand the other person better and enjoy random events which sometimes are absolutely fun.

So the other day me & wifee were driving along the Magrath road in  Bangalore. When out of the blue wifee suddenly shot back with a question/statement “Why on earth is Mac so expensive?”. Now this was an opportunity for someone like yours truly to impress the wifee with knowledge prowess. I mean you don’t leave this opportunity even if you are 10 years into the marriage and for me, I haven’t even completed 10 months.

So I went into details of how the Mac has a different hardware platform and the software which work more efficiently over the machine as compared to the others. I was about to delve into the drawbacks of restrictive hardware access by Mac and Apple. I saw the wifee was looking towards me as if I had just been reincarnated from a different planet.

That was when I realized I was talking about this-

And the wifee was talking about this-

After that I did the most sensible thing a man would do “Shut Up” :

The Coffee In The House

So all of you folks know about my obsession for various gadgets etc and my joy of buying them. I shared with you when I bought my car and I shared with you when I bought this. So it was time for me to buy another gadget which I had my eyes on for a long time. So last week I jumped over the opportunity to get the desired coffee maker for myself and bought this model from Morphy Richards.

For the feedback, the coffee maker works well and makes a good espresso and cappuccino. I also got a Costa Rica Beans for brewing for my espresso. Here are some pics of my first few coffees from the new coffee maker and the coffee brewed on my own coffee maker.

Firstly this is the machine that I bought, though had some other models from Inalsa, & Lavazza but Inalsa was too crude (as a matter of fact there was another stripped down version of Morphy Richards where you could not control the strength of the brew which also was too crude thought a bit cheaper) and Lavazza was very expensive priced around Rs. 9,000.  So this is the model which yours truly & the wifee decided to pick up.

Once all the equipment was setup and cleaned, I added the coffee to the filter and water in the machine. Saying my prayers I finally switched it on, after a minute and a half, the espresso started pouring in the kettle.

Finally after full 3 minuted we had a kettle full of Espresso ready and though I wanted to immediately pour it down my throat, wifee gave me the “Do Not Touch It” look and took some warmed milk for the cappuccino.

Now we poured the milk and the espresso in the mugs, leaving space for the froth to be formed. Then we steamed the mixture in the mugs to generate the froth over the coffee. Generating froth is a bit tricky, specially in a small mug the coffee tends to spill around, inviting you are so dead look from the wifee. This is how the nozzle looked after we had steamed for making the froth.

and after all the steaming and a bit of mess which wifee cleaned up, this is what I can proudly present as the coffee made by me 🙂

The "F" in Fun

What does one expects when he goes to a movie. Till early 90s the movie used to be walk in to the theater, sit glued to an uncomfortable chair for 3 hours, watch the movie and may be have some Pepsi & Popcorn in the intermission. Then came the decade of multiplexes; which converted the movie watching into an experience with better screens, better sound, and relatively comfortable chairs.

It might be the next progression of the movie watching experience is dominated by the idea of chilling out and stress busting while watching the movie. The idea is something which I realized when I went to watch the movie Inception this Saturday. Recently I had been hearing a lot about the Foster’s F-row Campaign on twitter and blogs. So when I got a chance to experience the much talked about F-row I grabbed it with my hands full.

The concept is quite novel and it actually adds a lot of flavor to the movie. When we reached in the waiting lounge of the theater, we were greeted with the Foster’s guys were waiting for us with one of the best feet massagers in the lounge itself. So before the movie we were subjected to a small relaxation session on the feet massagers which actually took away all the tiredness caused due to driving to the theater.

When we moved inside the theater the F-row was marked differently with Fosters logo and there as soon as we settled on our chairs there were special cushions we were provided with a goodies bag, which had a squeeze-me smiley ball, with Foster’s bottle opener and face wipes. So when we left with a hall we had a part of the movie watching experience going home with us.

So overall we had a brilliant weekend movie which was terrific and add to that the Foster’s F-row made it all the more memorable and pleasant. So next time you booking a ticket for a movie on a weekend, Foster’s F-row is well worth a try.

My Sins Against Gender Stereotypes

So IHM started this brilliant tag and I was tagged by Monika in this one. To complete the tag IHM says-
If You Are a Man-

Have you ever wanted something that only women are supposed to want – like bags, shoes, clothes, creams, perfumes, babies, flowers? A peaceful home and a happy family? Have you ever been afraid of the dark or of insects?

As a kid did you ever want to play ‘teacher-teacher’, cooking or did you like playing with a doll? Have you ever enjoyed cooking? Bought something in pink? Loved chocolates?

So here’s a tag – Please list at least ten things you have ever wanted or done which your gender is not supposed to.

As the readers of the blog would already know, I am not the kinds who could be stereotyped as feminist’s delight. Somehow my feminists friends do not get very thrilled by my radical ideas of gender equality so I believe in the bias. People who are deciding to blast me right away, have taken out their knifes and shovels out may keep then inside; remember chivalry is also a kind of chauvinism and somehow women around me love it. And I don’t mind doing it for people around me for whom I care. Coming back to the tag I thought it might be difficult for me complete the tag. But there is no harm in trying so here goes my list

  • I have a strong liking for Sunglasses, I have 6 pair of glasses currently as a part of my wardrobe
  • I have a again a huge collections of fragrances which I love to use, and I cannot decide amongst my favorites perfumes from UCB, CK, Azzaro, Burberry, Davidoff, and Ralph Lauren so I have them all
  • I simply love chocolate. I have a craving for chocolate and I need to have a chocolate dessert then
  • I love to read.
  • I like watching Sitcoms and Romantic Comedy Movies
  • One of real life role models is Carly Fiorina who is a woman
  • I Enjoy Shopping
  • I like buying shoes, though I don’t have one matching every dress but I do enjoy shoe shopping
  • I use a sunscreenin summers
  • I freak out over my weight increases beyond two Kgs, though I might not do anything about it but I would be generally bothered about it
  • Now comes the tough part, finding bloggers who haven’t done this tags. I can think of only two bloggers who haven’t taken this one, so Reema & Deepti you are tagged 🙂

Naam Hai Nahi Rahega, Prateek Gupta

So Nu posted an interesting post about the movie character.
This was a tough decisions on what characters I would relate to, it was a close call between Aamir Khan in Dil Chahta Hai, Saif Ali Khan in Hum Tum, and Nick Naylor in Thank You for Smoking. However, I believe a character that totally defines my major traits would be Guru Kant Desai from the movie Guru.

I have awesomely loved this movie and Abhishek Bachan’s character. Here is an insight to a dialogue from the movie which I relate to, a lot.

    Chilling At The Unwind Island

I have become one of the believers in the art of chilling, so when I got the invite for my first Fosters’ art of chilling parties in Bangalore, I was more than over joyed. My earlier experiences in Pune art of chilling parties only suggested one thing that I freeze my schedule for Sunday afternoon to make it to the Fosters’ party.

Though every Fosters party had been a different experience, this one was quite different from the others. While the last time we had an entire gang who were having awesome fun, but all that is history. I changed cities, left my fun loving gang which used to make the parties so much fun, I was really skeptical if I would be enjoying this party as much.

But this time I had Wifee along with me, made some new friends and enjoyed an awesome party. The fosters art of chilling this time too stood for what it means to me, an awesome time and an unforgettable evening.
